"Spring" into Safety

Hello all!

Our goal at Heritage is to help every student feel safe, connected, and confident.

This spring, older students will be learning about using their voices and actions to make great choices. They will have 8 sessions of Botvin Life Skills Training - a substance abuse prevention program. Learn more about the program here: www.lifeskillstraining.com/

Younger students will continue to learn about their power to be great leaders in their class and communities. They are "Discovering the Leader in Me". Learn more about the program here: www.leaderinme.org/student-leadership-guides/

If your student needs a backpack, school supplies, or any other type of support (including emotional/mental health), please reach out to me at elisabeth.gardner@washk12.org, or call the school to connect with me. Also, check out our "Resources" tab on this website.

Be well!

Your school counselor,
Elisabeth Gardner

A COUNSELOR'S ROLE

Picture

CHAMPION
 STUDENT WELLNESS

Counselors believe a "whole child" approach to education integrates academic learning and life experiences. Foremost, we are advocates for student wellness.

CONTRIBUTE
 TO A CARING CLIMATE

Counselors make proactive efforts to create a physically and emotionally safe school environment. We promote inclusion and honor diversity.

COLLABORATE
 & CONNECT

Counselors actively team with students, caregivers, and educators. We listen to and share perspectives with all stakeholders to facilitate positive outcomes.

CELEBRATE
GROWTH & SUCCESS

Counselors believe "learners are leaders". Students realize their full potential by building on their strengths, and practicing "The 7 Habits of Happy Kids".
